Bought this barely ripened pineapple for two reasons A. The PRICE! $1 B. The fact that it leans. This pineapple was too playful to not catch on camera.

Burned Out

Behind our office is an alley way; a short cut back to the main street - everyday I pass a set of rotting trucks and feral cats. In addition to be rotted out I noticed that a few weeks ago that two of the trucks were burned out shells. Last friday I decided to stop and see the damage. Notice the cat sitting on the wheel basking in the sun. The back was burned out out as well bug I couldn't muster up the courage to climb bake there over the broken glass to get a good look.

Follow the Light

I've staked out this stairway for two years since our office moved to Greensboro--not once have I stopped to take a picture until today. I'm glad I did and I thank my lovely coworkers for making it happen. We snapped this pretty quickly and I'm pleased how it turned out. I realize how long it's been since I tried to see the world through my viewfinder hopefully I won't stop snapping and sharing. My favorite part of the photo is how the pattern of her dress pops against the grittiness of the stairs.

Community Patio

Read an article on nytimes.com about food photobloggers and one line stood out to me “I remember every single day, who I was with, what I was feeling," -- I loved my old photoblog; paging through the photos and remembering each moment; why I composed a shot or why I even chose to shoot - I miss that. So I'm photoblogging again; it might not be pretty but lets see where it takes us. This is the faux patio we've erected at the end of the stairwell; a family moved out a year ago and left this sad patio set - I've taken it as my own with the various herbs and plants I've collected. Since the weather has transitioned from cold to warm I've started sitting out here every morning; enjoying my coffee in the morning light.

I like the contrast in the sharpness of the glass and the softness of the surrounding window.

Through the window in two different directions. I love the way the light plays on the slats creating the X along the wall; while in the opposite direction the sun glimmers through the remnants of the window.

Spring finally peaked it's head out today; with the warm weather I finally decided to venture out and snap a few photos. This is an interior shot of a collapsed farmhouse that I've driven by daily for the past year; time has battered it to shreds. Since the floor was caved in I wasn't brave enough to hop through a window and explore; most of the following shots are taken from the windows.

I've always been drawn to food photography. I love the bright whiteness and serenity that the images exude; so for this long weekend I decided to bake muffins and document the process. This is butter for the crumb topping; which I've never made before - found a simple recipe from allrecipes.com.

Inside the clay studio

This past weekend I made a short trip into durham to catch up with a college friend; ended up at Piedmont for brunch (great atmosphere, good food. too bad they ran out of champagne for mimosa's -- we resorted to wine!) Check our out tasty goodness. Then we wandered the Durham Art Walk to the Clay Studio located next to the Scrap Exchange (been there? if you haven't it's a crafters/first year studio student/junk collector's dream!) - at the Clay Studio I was drawn in by the mask sitting on the shelf; arresting.
